Information on City Operations following Hill Country flooding

The City of Boerne continues to work closely with its partners at Kendall County, Kerr County, and the City of Kerrville as recovery efforts continue in the Hill Country following the devastating flooding event over the Fourth of July Weekend.

The City of Boerne has compiled a list of information for residents to learn more about ongoing City operations, ways to donate to flood relief, how to avoid scams, and more.

The City of Boerne uses the mass notification system Everbridge to send immediate alerts to citizens who have subscribed to the service.

Users can customize their notification preferences after signing up. Alerts can be sent via email, text, and/or phone call so you never miss important communication about an emergency event in the area.

Giving Back

Boerne residents and our neighbors across the Hill Country and the state have been quick to offer their support to those affected by the flooding.

The cleanup and rebuilding from this flooding event will be long and take months if not years. During this time, the response is primarily focused on rescue and recovery until every person is accounted for.

Officials in the impacted areas have asked residents not to organize or attempt to join search and rescue operations, which are being managed by trained state and federal personnel. Additional, uncoordinated search efforts could put more lives at risk and complicate official response efforts.

Volunteer and Physical Donations

There are many organizations and nonprofits actively assisting in the recovery and cleanup effort. The Kerr Together website is a centralized location for information on volunteering and donations in Kerr County.

Monetary Donations

Monetary donations can be made to the official fund set up through the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country.

Beware of Scams

Unfortunately, there are those who take advantage of the kindness of others during the response to natural disasters. This event is no different.

Please be cautious when donating money online, over the phone, or in person. Remain vigilant and always verify the legitimacy of mail or phone calls before making any payments. If you think you have been the victim of a scam, please contact the Boerne Police Department non-emergency line at (830) 249-8645.

City of Boerne’s Commitment to Service

While we were fortunate that Boerne was largely spared from the most devastating impacts of the flooding, many of our neighbors experienced significant damage and loss.

As a city organization that provides essential services, we understand how disruptive and dangerous severe flooding can be. It affects not only infrastructure, but lives, families, and entire communities.

Since the start of this flooding event last Friday, staff from the City of Boerne have provided support to our partners at Kendall County, Kerr County, and the City of Kerrville.

Early Friday morning, the Kendall County and City of Boerne Emergency Operations Center was activated at our police station. Members of our Police and Fire Departments, along with staff from the City Manager’s Office, Communications, and IT, quickly reported to support regional response efforts.

Alongside members of the Kendall County EOC response team, we worked together to manage the unfolding events in Comfort as conditions rapidly worsened. During the height of the flood event, Boerne personnel were actively assisting in Comfort with swift water rescues, drone operations, and patrol support in Kerrville.

Since then, we’ve continued to support our neighbors by sending Fire and Communications staff to assist at the Kerr County EOC, working under the direction of state agencies as response and recovery coordination continues.

Our mental health officers and peer support groups have also been directly involved throughout the weekend, including their presence and assistance at the Kerr County EOC to help address the emotional toll this event has taken on first responders and community members alike. Our organization has also mobilized needed resources, including electrical line, to help restore power in the affected areas.

We know this is just the beginning, and the City of Boerne remains committed to serving our neighbors on what will be a long road to recovery.
