World Series Celebration for Boerne Little League

By Robert Taylor

The City of Boerne and the Greater Boerne Chamber of Commerce are excited to host a World Series Celebration for the Boerne Little League baseball team as they return from the Little League World Series.

The celebration is scheduled for Monday, August 26 from 4:45 – 6:30 p.m. at Main Plaza, 100 N. Main Street in Boerne.

“The Boerne community has been cheering on this incredible team as they made their historic run to Williamsport, PA,” City Manager Ben Thatcher said. “We want to welcome them home with a party worthy of their hard work and determination that has captivated all of us.”

“It has been so inspiring to see the way the community has rallied behind this team,” said Kim Blohm, president and CEO of the Greater Boerne Chamber of Commerce. “We’ve had so many businesses owners and nonprofits eager to donate their time and services throughout this run and to help put on this World Series Celebration.”

Event Details

The team is scheduled to arrive back in Boerne on the afternoon of Monday, August 26. The public is invited to start lining Main Street from Main Plaza south to Theissen Street around 5 p.m. on Monday.

Starting at 5:15 p.m., Main Street will be temporarily blocked off as the team is escorted by the Boerne Police and Fire departments from Main Plaza to River Road and back, ending back at Main Plaza. Bring your signs and cheer for the boys as they make their way up and down Main Street.

Once the team passes, attendees can make their way to Main Plaza for the World Series Celebration event. The formal recognition is anticipated to start at approximately 5:30 p.m. and last until 6 p.m.

The boys will be recognized by Mayor Frank Ritchie of Boerne, Mayor Greg Maxton of Fair Oaks Ranch, Kendall County Judge Shane Stolarczyk, Greater Boerne Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Kim Blohm, and Boerne ISD Superintendent Dr. Kristin Craft.

Several local businesses have donated drinks and snacks for attendees to enjoy. Additionally, two food vendors will be on site.

Please note that the timing of the event is subject to change depending on the arrival of the team. Monitor the City of Boerne on Facebook and Instagram for any time changes.

Traffic Impacts

To make sure the team can be celebrated safely, Boerne Police will be conducting temporary street closures on Monday, August 26.

Starting around 4:45 p.m. Monday, drivers can expect temporary traffic impacts on Main Street from the Fire Station south to River Road. Once the team’s escort arrives at Main Plaza, Boerne Police plan to reopen Main Street.

The streets around Main Plaza will be closed for the duration of the event, including West Blanco Road and West San Antonio Street. Bank of America customers will be able to access the bank from West San Antonio.

Parking at Main Plaza and Waterworks Terrace will be closed all day Sunday, August 25 and Monday, August 26 in preparation for the event.

If you plan to come to the World Series Celebration, get there early to make sure you’re in place to welcome the boys home.
