Public Comment: Safety Action Plan

The City of Boerne is seeking public input from residents on a draft of its Comprehensive Safety Action Plan.

The plan provides a data-driven outline to reduce roadway fatalities and serious injuries while improving safety for all users. The City will use it to apply for project funding through the federal Safe Streets for All grant program.

Give Feedback

Community input is a critical part of this process. City Council will consider formally adopting the plan later this spring. Before then, residents are encouraged to review the plan and provide feedback.

About the Plan

The Comprehensive Safety Action Plan outlines ways to improve several high-traffic roadways and intersections across Boerne.

A study conducted as part of the initiative found that 73 percent of all crashes in Boerne occur on just 15 percent of roadways. While auto-pedestrian crashes account for only one percent of total crashes, they represent 25 percent of all fatal and serious injury crashes.

Key corridors highlighted for focused attention include South Main Street, Main Plaza, River Road and West Bandera Road.

The plan aligns with SS4A principles, Vision Zero goals, and the Safe System Approach, prioritizing designs that reduce serious crashes rather than simply addressing traffic flow.
