Tuesday’s City Council meeting was the last for District 3 Councilman Quinten Scott, who announced his resignation in July upon moving outside the city limits.
Scott was first elected to represent District 3 during a special election in May 2019 and was reelected in 2020, 2022, and 2024. He has continued to serve on City Council, per the City charter, while City Council gathered applications from interested candidates.
Before stepping down, Scott took time to reflect on his tenure.
“I’ve had great moments with the City. We had challenges with COVID and with constituent concerns over projects, but I’m thankful for all the work that Council and I have done,” Scott said. “I’m sad that I’m leaving but happy to be leaving it in the hands of a good Council. I know you guys have the interest of the community at heart.”
Fellow councilmembers and City leadership took turns thanking Scott and his wife, Sandy, for their time and service to the community.
“Quinten, I’ve known you for a long time. First as a customer, then you became a friend, and then we’ve gotten to work together here at City Council,” Mayor Frank Ritchie said. “I know what kind of man you are and what kind of character you have. It’s been a pleasure to serve with you.”
“It’s been a pleasure serving with you,” District 1 Councilman Ty Wolosin said. “One thing I love about this role is that we’ve had many conversations in which we’ve disagreed on something, but I’d say 95 percent of the time we’ve voted on things the same way. I think that’s the beauty of local government – that we had a cordial conversation and we made a decision.”
“Serving on City Council is a privilege and a sacrifice. Quinten has given generously of his time and talents for the good of our community,” City Manager Ben Thatcher said. “While his time on City Council is coming to an end, his contributions have left a lasting mark and will continue to be felt for years to come.”
Scott was presented a Key to the City in recognition of his dedication to the City of Boerne and his time on City Council.

Kyle Mickelsen to represent District 3
Three candidates were interviewed by City Council during executive session at Tuesday’s meeting. Following the interviews, Council briefly reconvened to announce they had selected Kyle Mickelsen to fill Scott’s District 3 seat.
Mickelsen, 49, is the lead estimator, sales, and project manager for Quest Masonry, Inc. He has been a Boerne resident for over 19 years. His wife, Rachel, is the clinical director at Warriors Heart in Bandera. They have raised five children in the community, where their youngest daughter is a freshman at Boerne High School.
He has served on the City’s Ethics Review Commission and the Charter Review Commission.
Mickelsen will be introduced and take his oath of office at the Sept. 23 City Council meeting. He will serve out the remainder of Scott’s term, which will expire in 2026.
