The City of Boerne has renewed its agreement with WM, previously known as Waste Management, ensuring residents continue to receive quality trash and recycling services. This updated agreement introduces several enhancements designed to improve service convenience and efficiency for the community.

New 96-Gallon Recycling Carts

Starting Monday, January 27, WM will replace the current 64-gallon recycling carts with larger 96-gallon recycling carts for all residential customers. This upgrade aims to increase recycling capacity and promote sustainability in Boerne.

Residents will simply need to leave their bins by the curb on their normal recycling day and WM will collect their old bin and replace it with a newer, larger receptacle as they are out doing their regular collection. The change out should be completed by February 7.

Same-Day Trash and Recycling Collection

The City is collaborating with WM to streamline collection schedules, aligning all residential trash and recycling services to occur on the same day. Once implemented, residents will have a single collection day between Monday and Friday. Further details about the re-routing will be shared as they become available.

Updated Service Rates

Effective January 1, 2025, Boerne residents will see a slight increase in their monthly garbage rates. The new rates are as follows:

  • $22.83 per month for one waste wheeler and a 96-gallon recycling cart.
  • $30.70 per month for two waste wheelers and a recycling cart. These rates include applicable sales tax and encompass monthly brush and bulk item collection services.

Previously, the rates were $18.57 and $25.92, respectively.

Enhanced Services for Residents

  • Disability Collection Services: WM will provide door-to-truck waste collection services for residents who demonstrate a need or hardship.
  • Senior Citizen Discounts: Residents aged 65 and older are eligible for discounted rates.
