The Boerne Fire Department is pleased to report that Firefighter Luke Hernandez successfully completed the TEXSAR Swiftwater Rescue Technician I (SRT I) earlier this month at Landa Park in New Braunfels.
This intensive 27-hour training program included classroom instruction, night operations, and hands-on practical work along the Comal River. The course prepares responders for safe and effective operations in swiftwater and flood-related emergencies – a critical skill set for regional response capabilities.
The SRT I certification is required for TEXSAR personnel operating in or near water environments and serves as a prerequisite for future Rescue Boat Operator (RBO) training.
Hernandez’s completion of this course enhances the department’s technical rescue proficiency and supports our ongoing commitment to public safety and operational readiness.
