City of Boerne Assistant City Manager Danny Zincke recently earned the Credentialed Manager designation from the International City/County Management Association (ICMA). Zincke is now among more than 1,300 local government professionals worldwide to hold this credential, achieved through ICMA’s Voluntary Credentialing Program.

“I am honored to receive this designation,” Zincke said. “It is important for everyone in a leadership role to continue to grow and learn, and I am excited to utilize this experience to help Boerne be an exemplary Hill Country community.”

In his role as assistant city manager, Zincke currently oversees the Boerne Fire, Police, Finance, Information Technology, and Human Resources departments.

ICMA’s mission is to advance local government through leadership, management, innovation, and ethics. The organization supports the development of local government administrators, with 13,000 members across 27 countries, including public servants, educators, and students.

Achieving ICMA credentialing requires significant senior management experience in local government, a degree in public administration or a related field, and a commitment to integrity, lifelong learning, and professional development.

“Danny’s leadership and commitment have had a lasting impact on our community,” Boerne City Manager Ben Thatcher said. “His dedication to continual improvement and service to the City and residents make him an invaluable asset to our team.”

Zincke has nearly 25 years of experience in local government and over a decade in leadership. He began his career with the City of Boerne in 2011 as the director of Parks and Recreation before moving into the director of community services role in 2015. His leadership has played a key role in various projects, including the redevelopment of River Road Park, Curry Creek Trail, and Veterans Park, as well as the expansion of the Old No. 9 Trail and the construction of an amphitheater at the Patrick Heath Public Library.

In addition to his role with Boerne, Zincke has made contributions to other organizations, including serving as president of the Texas Amateur Athletic Association from 2017-2019.

He currently serves as the vice president of TCMA Region 8 and has served on the TCMA Professional Development team for the past three years.
