Boerne Animal Care Services, in partnership with Hill Country Animal League, serviced 30 pets at its second pet licensing and vaccination clinic of the year on Sept. 18.

The clinics help Boerne residents comply with local ordinances that require pet owners to license their pets and keep their vaccinations up to date.

“This clinic provides the community with the ability to obtain the rabies vaccine and a City license for only $20,” ACS Supervisor Stefanie Fisher said. “The last clinic hosted by the City was in 2012, so we were able to host two this year and plan to continue doing so.”

This one-day event is unique because pet owners can pay for both licensing and vaccinations together, rather than separately, and complete both within the same appointment. Each visit takes about 10 to 15 minutes.

Benefits of licensing and vaccinating pets include ensuring lost pets are returned home, protecting them from deadly diseases, and preventing shelter overcrowding.

“This benefits the entire community of Boerne and Kendall County by ensuring pets are compliant with state, county, and city ordinances, while also keeping both animals and citizens safe from the threat of rabies,” Fisher said.
